I was born just outside of Boston.... Left before I could walk.... teenage and early adulthood in Florida....Still consider myself a southern Yankee...

Now.... My father... born and raised in Boston area... Passed away a few year back... in Florida.... He was proud to call himself a Redneck

If you are from Boston, are you a "Yankee?" I thought Yankee's were just from NY.

Of course, all Americans are considered Yankees if you travel outside of North America. I was called a Yankee in both the UK and Spain.

I always took being a redneck as being a farmer - because your neck is red from being in the sun all day. Like a farmers tan.

Lot of truth in this as the origin of the term redneck. Some people use the term as an insult, but I see it as a symbol of hard work and southern culture.

Redneck = Likes to play in the dirt but does generally not live off it.
