Refinishing Laminate gun stocks

I have a very new hobby of refinishing gun stocks. I just bought a laminate gun stock that needs refinishing. Will probably use tru oil. Do I need to do anything special other than strip, sand and finish with tru oil? Is laminate any different?

laminate may give you issues with the grain raising, seal, sand...repeat until its smooth. You are basically playing with plywood.

Sanding cures all!
I used Birchwood Casey True Oil for years, but now I use Formbys Tung Oil. It applies easier, less drips, and has a much much more durable finish. Pick it up at Lowes. I have refinished a few over the years.
