Yeah, it would appear that you are correct. I just checked the DNR site:

Registration Required
Registration is required for:

• all mechanically-propelled vessels used on "Waters of this state."
• sailboats over twelve feet in length used on "Waters of this state."

A bathtub with a motor is a motorized vessel, the DNR can eat you up for it. Register the thing not that much of a cost to keep them from spoiling your fishing trip outing.
