Remington model 78

Help! I am rebuilding a model 78 in 270. I am having trouble finding a take off stock to replace the factory stock. The idea behind the build is a budget hunting rifle. Anyone have any trading sites I might find used parts, no luck on the ODT so far

The 78 was a low end 700 so any 700 ADL stock will work for your needs. lot of them available on ebay or gunbroker.

Whats wrong with the original stock ?

As mentioned above, any 700 adl stock (long action).
You can glass bed the original stock and seal it, and float the barrel. Adjust your trigger. It'll make a fine hunting rifle. I have one in 30-06 that will shoot honest one inch groups at 100 yds.

There is nothing wrong with the original, I prefer synthetic.
