Rifle Scopes

I am looking for suggestions, for a compact scope for a couple Marlin rifles I have. It would be nice to keep the price below $250.00 Thanks..Ray

I put a 2x7x33 Leupold VXI on a compact Ruger. I was looking for a scope that "fit" the rifle and had the magnification that I thought I needed. I really like that scope and I think I gave around $180 for it at Cableas. To be honest, a plain old 4X would suit my need most of the time. 90% of the shots I take on deer are on 3x or 4x.
