I want to see someone make a gun that uses standard AR-15 mags, barrels, rails, bcg's, buttstocks, and lower parts kit! Man if someone did that they could make a million bucks.

Right before Sandy Hook I passed on buying an AMD 65 at $325, figured I'd wait til they dropped below 300 because that's about what I wanted to pay for one. I'm definitely not paying over 600 bucks for the same gun now.
Show me a decent AK platform rifle (made in a Communist country by some faceless worker getting paid next to nothing) that I can buy for under 5 bills and I would seriously consider getting one. But as long as I can get Colt 6920 OEM's all day around 650 I'm not spending that on an AK.

Never seen anything work reliably in a Mini-14 other than Ruger mags.

Me either, and I have tried. At $40 per mag for the Ruger brand, I decided against it.
I can't say that I have ever seen aftermarket mags work in any Ruger...The AR may be an exception, of course, or the RPR, but I have no experience with those.
