i have a pond in south Alabama, I never put any fish in it the pond.it is 9 yrs old about 4 acres, it starts at a creek. I catch catfish a lot but the only other kind of fish I catch is these I'm pretty sure it's a rock bass. Right?

colorē up like a shellcracker...its in the sun perch family I would guess.

I thought Rock Bass had much smaller mouths than the fish in that pic, but hell, I'm no expert. I used to catch similar looking fish in Kentucky and folks would call them Warmouth. Not sure, but I know for their size, they put up a great fight on light spinning gear.
Warmouth brim is what I always called them.Rock bass have the same blue streaks around the mouth and red eyes, right?
We always call them Warmouth, too.
My granddad called it dinner time,skillet fried fish, cole slaw, french fries, cheese grits, hush puppies, ice tea, and black berry cobbler, top off with homemade ice cream, with whipped cream and peanuts/pecans...
