Ruger Mini 14 tactical thoughts?

I just think for going the tactical route the mini 14 isn't the greatest unless you can get a deal on the gun and a bunch of mags. The mags are the only thing that really makes it more expensive than some alternatives

I have always like the way this rifle handles, and have had several over the years, each one bought thinking I might get one that will function reliably and group at 4" or less (100 yds). After enough pain, I have given up.
