Yep. Love the rifle but the mags are a deal breaker. I've owned several. They shoot great. But unless you buy factory Ruger mags, then prepare to stay pissed!

Ruger Mini 14 - The Good, Bad & Ugly?

Yep. Love the rifle but the mags are a deal breaker. I've owned several. They shoot great. But unless you buy factory Ruger mags, then prepare to stay pissed!
I've got a 582 Tactical Ranch Rifle (they're all called ranch rifles now) and it is more accurate than the previous two mini's I've had over the years. I've heard others comment before that the mini is more fun to shoot than an AR, and I'll have to agree.
The tactical I have is in a traditional Ruger synthetic stock.
It has the heavy 16" barrel with factory flash hider.
The ruger factory mags are a bit expensive, but atleast they're made of steel.

I've always liked them, good shooters and your best bet for a more traditional looking semi auto 223. The down side would be if you wanna go all Tact a Kool youll pay a premium for mags and accessories (over AR prices).
I love mine! They are reliable and just plain fun to shoot. I will always have one in my harem of rifles.
I have had 5 of them over the years. Got 2 in the stable right now. One that is a 70s model that I bought in 1988 for $150 and also have a SS factory folder. Take them over an AR anyday.
Well, I'm now convinced. I just put a Beretta PX4 up for trade. Looking for a Mini 14!
Ok for what it is. Mags are crazy high price, i personally dont see its purpose anymore except for a safe queen with the AR's in the market at there prices

His is the model I have... but I run the 20 rounders.
I put a Choat handguard on mine, to give more cooling ventilation, plus I like the look better than the factory handguard.
