If it has a handguard it could be the alloy they use. Billet gun sometimes give off a slight ping noise. Some not all. Like I said it depends on the alloy used. I have built a billet gun that gave off a slight ping noise when shot. I sold it and I am working on another billet build now. It didn't bother me. I just sold it to build a fancier model." Fancy Feast ". That commercial popped into my head when I said fancier. It's mostly the handguard that gives off the ping. Not the billet receivers but the do carry the noise and make it a tad louder.Just preordered mine too.
I got the American target model earlier in the year.
It has a bug in it where whenever you shoot there's a loud "ping" noise.
Hopefully that's been fixed.
That's really weird. I have never heard a ping noise from a gun that has a wooden stock. Especially from a 22. Post a Pic of the gun. So I can see how it's built. Thanks for the tip Greg. This one doesn't actually have a handguard. It's a laminate stock.
Real pretty I just hate the noise! It's a bummer when shooting suppressed.
Ruger said I could send it back but never went through the hassle.
