Ruger sickness

Awesome caliber, too! Love me some 7mm Express Remington!
I saw a 7mm08 over the weekend in a black skeleton stock, with the caliber rollmark in the correct place on the barrel.
I Don't remember the serial prefix, but it had a plain floorplate. And the reciever was marked confirming it was a Mark 2 .
Not a hawkeye
Any metal on the gun, including the original sling swivels was also the hideous target grey color they use now, as opposed to the brushed stainless it,in my mind should have been.
The guy behind the table was convinced the rifle came that way from the factory, but was waiting on the letter to arrive.
The price was 2200.00 asking.
I doubt I'd have began the haggle if he had a letter stating it was factory because I hate the target grey finish.
But being the caliber it was, it would have been a reasonable price to start the haggle anyhow.
I've seen that caliber sell with over 40 bidders for north of 5k not too long ago .
I was glad I wasn't drinking what they were drinking that night.
But I guess my point is, I wasn't there the day that rifle got boxed in the factory to say it was that hideous target grey color. But he had newer rifles on the table that the color was identical to the metal on those rifles.
But there was no documentation to prove what the guy told me.
As far as looks goes, Josh's rifle , to me looks much better in its colors, than the one I looked at.
But that's just preference.
Not taking sides here.
But a ruger letter is only $10.00.
Another thing that left me puzzled was the sling swivels were target grey on the gun I looked at.
Would the cerakote guy have been that meticulous as to remove those and cerakote them. I say not likely.
Most folks hated those noisy bastards.
Myself included.
I camo ducttaped mine.
But the factory would have done the swivels.
In my opinion.
I wouldn't pay an inflated "limited edition" price for either gun.
Without the letter anyhow.
But there are folks that would.

I had a 30-06 and a 7 mag bead blasted back in the day when they were brand new. Always liked that look versus shiny. Better than the target grey for sure.
