Ruger Suing Thompson for copying the 10-22

This is a long time coming. By long time, I mean since the tc22 came out. It's a close copy but with upgrades (threadedbarrel, non-tuppaware stock, rail) that people naturally want. I'd be pissed if I was Ruger to. Weird part is, they copied and upgraded everything but the 10/22s ultimate reliability (from what Ive read on the web).

Just handled one at Ga Gunstore. It's about a clone of the Ruger. Better sail your TC stock because they gonna pay.

I was kind of amazed that TC (aka Smith and Wesson) would try this. Ruger has always been pretty relaxed about people making patented parts (I think they only insisted on licenses from mags and aftermarket receivers), but cloning the whole rifle does seem like it's crossing the line.

On the flip side, patents only last 20 years, so technically I guess they could make a clone without legal problems.
