S&W Shield recall

The DCAEK trigger kit has nothing to do with the trigger piece itself. The Apex replacement trigger replaces... well, the trigger itself. So, those with the Apex DCAEK kits need not worry. I think the Video from S&W explained it pretty darn well. Should be an easy fix, just replace the trigger piece itself, problem solved. Those with Shields, inspect your trigger, if there is a problem, send it back. Those haters out there at wanna jump all over S&W for having a recall, just ask yourself this.. How many recoil spring recalls has Glock had with the Gen 4... yeah, best be quiet.

As far as the trigger itself and how that particular system works, I prefer it over the Glock trigger because it feels better than a Glock trigger. That little safety tang on a Glock trigger starts to hurt after a good bit of use. The Smith design is smooth and comfortable.

Yeah now that they showed the issue. Its as bad as i though.

Of course everybody is already overreacting to this. I'm sure the amount of Shields affected by this is slim. I love my Shield 9.

And if the Shields 2 piece pivot trigger bothers you that much. Apex has been working on a solid body replacement trigger for the Shields. They already have one for the regular M&P line. I would assume it will be very similar. Not sure when it's due to be released though. Here's a link to the trigger for the M&P's.

Just wanted to add this. This is part of the press release that APEX put out sometime last year. I'm sure that with the recall, they will be trying to get this out as fast as possible. I am waiting to here back from APEX on this matter and will forward any information as I get it.

"Apex Products that DO NOT work in the Shield
The Apex Forward Set Trigger and AEK triggers do not work in the M&P Shield. The factory trigger in the Shield is narrower than the M&P triggers. We are presently working on a solid body polymer trigger to replace the factory trigger. "
