I've had a C2 and currently have an XC. Both outstanding. I handled the new Springfield at the LGS and it didn't feel nearly as refined as the Staccatos. Trigger wasn't even in the same ballpark, safety not as positive, slide not as smooth, finish not as nice, etc. I didn't shoot it, so who knows, it may be a great shooter. But just from handling it, I could tell that its not anywhere close to the same level. For this reason, if I were in the market, I'd just spend a few hundred more and get a C2 or a P.

Just got back from shooting a buddy's Prodigy that he just bought. Was a complete piece. The only ammo that it would even consider running was 115 grain fmj. Choked on 147's. Both ball and flat nose. No HP's of any type would cycle even 50/50. Tried a few different 2011 mags as well. Namely stacatto and MBX. Painstakingly, we ran 350 rounds through it.

As far as feel, well, it feels like a 2011 with a poly grip. Felt nice in my hand. Fit and finish were not as nice as a Stacatto. No where near as nice as a PT, Cheely, Atlas, etc (which I would expect given the price tag).

It'll be going back to Springfield this week.
Yours is the second report I have seen about this gun being a jam o matic

There is a number of problematic ones from what I've seen on multiple 1911/2011 groups.

Overall, seems to be a decent budget entry into the 2011 game. Where the Stacatto is set apart from the Prodigy is the reliability. Designed ground up for duty use. From what I've seen, the Prodigy is designed ground up to simply provide a 2011 platform at a cheaper price.

I handled it and had the same impressions. The SA trigger is not terrible. My calculation of the difference is about a thousand bucks. That is enough to make me try the SA.
