How did I get it re-titled you ask ? The State sends you a Title which states Rebuilt on it. If you are trying to get it back to a regular title then you will need to find a state that does not recognize salvage titles and transfer it over to someone there and then transfer it back to you name.
When you take the bike down to be inspected you must show where the parts came from that you repaired it with. If they were new then you will need to have the receipts, if used you will need to have the VIN # of the bikes the parts came from.
probably go to a body shop and talk to someone there. i know a friend of mine just rebuilt a dodge durango without any special license he just fixed the car left the damaged part unpainted and had someone certified by the state to come out and inspect the car and sign off on it. i know you used to have to take it to an inspection center but now they come out and look at the car and it also takes a couple months to get the rebuilt title back. as far as exactly who to contact i am not sure but from what i understand thats pretty much all you have to do besides a few hundred dollars in fees
You can log on to the GA DMV site and download the form to take to the inspection station (one I used multiple times was in Douglasville) (bring cash) Once they inspect it they send in the paperwork to the state and you receive a Title in the mail (usually a couple weeks)
I didn't have a license when I built a Harley a few years ago, but finding the info online to get this inspection done, liked to drove me crazy! They don't want the average person rebuilding salvage due to the tremendous amount of stolen parts! You can pay extra and they'll come to your place of business and do the inspection. I got lucky... working for Hedman Hedders Race Division gave me a little pull with the inspector! [he needed race hedders for his car] Would I do another rebuild ??? HELL NO !!! TOO MUCH OF A HEADACHE, plus the resale value is not there!
