I think I figured out the contaminants. If you look at these pics you an see the copper colored stuff. It would not come out. I assumed it was discolored metalsince it would not budge. I scrubbed, boiled and then changed the water before starting. Water ever it is turned loose in the 3 hours of continuous boiling. After looking at the gun again with eyes that are not so tired what is shown in the pics is no gone from there and present everywhere else lol.

Some kind of old grease that has long dried out and hardened.
