Scar owners help

On the Scar 16/17 there are two rails, about 3.5 inches long, each with three screws. This makes for an necessarily uncomfortable grip, at least to me.

Can these rails simply be removed by removing the screws, or is there more to it, especially the front screws where the rail material is thicker.

They have to be replaced with something else. I recommend the PMM REP(Rail Elimination Panels)
