School me on a Smartwatch.

I am wanting to get a smartwatch. I am going to need it to be able to take a moderate amount of abuse.

Whats are my options?

I’ve been wearing an Amazon Stratos for the couple of years and love it. I’ve hit it on the screen more than a dozen times and just knew I smashed it, doesn’t show a mark.

Apple Series 5 is what my Daughter uses (welder) and she's pleased with. More waterproof and better when using maps. But I don't care for Apple gadgets myself

I LOVE my Samsung S3 (I think) , one of the few things that I get the extended replacement warranties on, it is worth it!

You have to have a smart phone first to be able to use a smart watch, right? They aren't that smart by themselves.

You can get ones that take a sim card and work alone just like a phone.

Correct, I have had a Samsung since before the I-Watches came out, I like them, the first ones you could actually make a call on the watch, they went away from that but I think the new ones are going back to it.
