I have a friend who is going to take me turkey hunting, all I have to bring is my gun.
Current setup:
-stoeger P3000 pump
-Carlsons Tss heavyweight choke

Ammo is a **** show right now so finding turkey loads has been a pain. All I've been able to find is a box Hevi Shot 1 1/4 steel.
What common 12 gauge ammo should I use?

If you don’t have any good turkey loads, I’d get what you can and go pattern them and see what’s best out of your gun. Winchester double X and long beard has been showing up at both academy sports near me. Try going there on Tuesday or Friday mornings and get you some. If not like I said, get what you can and go pattern it and use it.

If you can find it winchester longbeard xr 3" #5 is my go to shell. You can't beat it for the money. But you need to buy a few different ones and see what your gun likes best.

If all else fails, remember that there have been a hell of a lot of turkey killed with just standard old 2 3/4 inch number six loads. Just not at 45 yards. Get them in to 30 yards and they're dead.
