Scrap wood project vertical 1 gun rack.

Had some scrap wood I needed to make into something.

Nothing special and pics are pretty self explanatory.

For the bottom part where the buttstock lays I traced the buttstock on a piece of wood and jig sawed it out a bit larger than the markings then used a dremel with a small sanding drum bit to bore and smooth the opening.
I then glued that piece to a identical solid piece for the top then lined the hole with some speaker box carpet pile.

The bottom is just a simple
Box with a door.
I hastily glued some wildlife magazine art to the inside of the door to jazz it up.

I already have friends and relatives wanting one badly...haha.

These were old cabinet hinges and was all I had lying around.
I’ll end up getting a bit fancy in the future by using some really nice hardware.
Anyone with half decent woodworking skills can build this.

I love it. Did you consider drilling a hole in the center of the top piece so the gun could not slide out if the door slammed etc?

The gun won’t
Slide out as gravity makes the barrel lean to the full right side of top piece.
I could slam the door 100 times and the rifle Wont budge.
The pic of the rifle in front of the dresser was for test purposes and I ended up flipping the open C shape of the top piece around so now it won’t move once it’s resting in there.
It’s an optical illusion in the pic because the door actually clears the whole set up by 10 inches.

Looks like a great starter wood project for a young hunter. Kinda interested in a price on the dresser. Lotta character in the wood.
