Securing handguns in the car

Gee, the OP has decided he's going to be a responsible gun owner and make sure it is secured if he ever has to leave it in his car. Anyone who does not do that is not a responsible gun owner. I have no sympathy for anyone who has their car window smashed and their gun stolen from under their seat. How's that for an opinion? Want to hear it again?
Who asked for sympathy?

I never cited any statistics. Statistics are for lawyers. Data is for people who took that thing with numbers.... um, mathematics I think they call it. Data on stolen guns prove that they are taken more easily and often when they are unsecured.

If some thug comes up to carjack you, your screwed!

I don't think anyone is advocating leaving their weapon in the safe while they are in the vehicle. I for one certainly would not. That's akin to keeping your gun in the car but not having it loaded. Unless you plan to throw it at someone, what purpose would that serve?

I agree with securing against theft when the car is not occupied. I have my means...but it would only work if you had the same car as mine.

definition of statistics: the practice or science of collecting and analyzing numerical data

Raw data is what it is. Statistics is what can be derived from that data, and, as we are all well aware, statistics can be manipulated to make gun owners who don't secure their guns look much larger than the vast majority of gun owners who have never had a gun stolen. I don't quote "statistics" for that very reason. Statistics never take into account all the possible variables, which is why they are wholly theoretical and not scientifically factual. Statistics are used to predict possibilities. Data put us on the moon. Oh, crap, that's probably not the best example with this bunch.
