Been twice. The local hotels were decent. The drive out to the Indian ruins can be made in a rental car. There were motorhomes and everything else in the parking lot. You do not need to pay money to ride in a Jeep out there. I put a case of water and a cheap Styrofoam cooler in the car. You can drive out in Arizona a long way from civilization. Stay hydrated.

Definitely worth it but expect a hippie town where the primary business model is "Aura reading"!
Flying into Phoenix and making the loop up to GC and through Sedona on the way up or back is definitely worth it. Lots of great hiking and sights to take in! Eat at Mama Burger in Flagstaff if you like a good, local, burger dive!

Try Jackson Hole Wyoming or Missoula Montana. Many places cheap to fly in, rent a car and see Yellowstone, Grand Teton or Glacier National parks, Just got back a few weeks ago and it was the best trip I ever had!

You probably already been there but try the Smokies its close and a cabin buy a stream might be the perfect drinking spot
