Self Defense Law Question

1. I would have kept shooting till threat was neutralized.

2. Failing that would have stayed on target and shot as he turned and threw weapon at me thus re engaging.

3. In your scenario, with the facts as they are, the thrown weapon out of the picture, I probably would not shoot again as long as no more threatening moves were made. If it looked like the guy was even considering it and was mobile enough to be a threat I would finish it with a clear conscience.

4. If possible would be retreating to cover while checking for secondary threats and any video surveillance while keeping eye on aggressor.
 
How am I sure I hit him twice if he just 'winces'?
And I'm not going to be 'shooting at' someone coming at me with a weapon- I'll be shooting into them.
Edit to add:
I follow the teachings of the Dalai Lama and you know what he recommends in a scenario like this...
