Self Monitored Alarm System...

our inside cat has to be locked in a room when we leave because sensors, stupid ass ADT rep when installed said oh no worries takes 50lbs to set off alarm,2 hours away 1st week, yup cat set it off,so now she gets locked in a bathroom!

That sucks. Might want to switch to glass break sensors so that cat can move about.

Are the camera's powered by the NVR or do you have to run power and coaxial (?) cables to each of the cameras? Then do you connect to the NVR with an external HD or connect directly to a cloud service so you can view from an app?

They are powered by the nvr, which is pretty cool. I know you can use an external HD, which is what I'm going to do. I'm not sure about the cloud.

The Cameras are POE, power over ethernet and connect to the NVR with CAT5 cable. The NVR powers the cameras, so no need for a external power supply. The NVR also has a internal HD to store the recorded footage. The NVR also has a free app for Smart phone for you to view the cameras remotely, the Hikvision app allows you not only to view the cameras live, but to look at recorded footage from you smart phone as well. I install alot of the Hikvision product line for my customers.

Not a bad idea. Just make sure the GSM has a strong signal. Test the system regularly. I would recommend open/close signals so you know if there is a communications problem. The system can probably be programmed to send test signals at regular intervals.

Pet motions are not fool proof. They can be relocated/adjusted most times if there is a problem with false alarms.

For internal protection, you can wire inside doors. Closets, bedrooms, cabinets, etc.

Position the main unit where it cannot be seen from the outside. I prefer to use a separate panel placed in a safe area some where.
