I've got to many financial irons in the fire and I think my NFA toys are going to draw the short straw. I know how individual to individual transfers work. What I don't know is how an individual to individual transfer works when using a dealer to help. Does the dealer take possession of the items or is it just like an individual trasnfer?

NFA items can transfer person/trust to person/trust if both parties reside in the same state. If the transfer happened between different states a FFL in the receiving state has to be in on the transaction. The problem with this is that you get double taxed. The dealer in the next state has to pay the tax on it since it's not on a F3. Then the buyer in the other state has to pay the tax once more. And yes, the dealer takes possession once the form from the seller to him clears.
