Why is it expected for the seller to cover shipping these days?

Doesn't the buyer normally pay shipping when you order things unless it's some sort of "free shipping" sale...?

This is not a rant. I'm honestly asking opinions.

I've often wondered the same thing. I'll cover shipping if the buyer is willing to pay $100 over my price for no reason.

I never offered it in the first place...

The listing specifically said no, but people inevitably ask... and assume you'll cover it...

I price all of my stuff at 75% of retail(most times more like 50%), and all of it is brand new or almost that. Still not enough of a deal i guess.

Buyer should pay if listed here, unless you bump up the price and cover it or feel real generous.

I see sellers on ebay list an item and say "free" shipping. But their price so much higher than other sellers, they are in fact making the buyer pay shipping.
