Seriously, does it make that much of a difference (charging handle)?

Yes Sir. Keep it clean, simple, and useful in my book. The simpler they are the less likely they are to break. nothing makes me laugh much harder than to see someone with a fancy, over-accessorized AR at the range with a big scope on it and using a spotting scope at a 100 yard range. no need for anything more than regular old iron sights at that distance. I don't know how the Army does it these days but you were expected to hit your target out to 300 meters with Iron Sights when I had to qualify. I think they use Aimpoints and ACOG's now though. I have to admit, they are easier to hit your target with those types of optics. but we were talking about Charging Handles right, lol. Nope, never broke one

Only 300 huh?
Boy you Army guys had it easy. :becky:
(I don't get to do much inter service teasing anymore, so let me slide ok. Lol)

I had to shoot out to 600 meters in the Army SDM course, with Iron sights... But yeah, the Army dosent care about shooting, it puts "Band-Aids" on shooting with red dots and ACOGS... So much fail.

I have seen a couple of broken charging handles over the years, most seem to be caused by not pulling straight back . The big benefit is the being easy to grab when you add an optic

What's that mean? You carry a spare?

I was saying that when a failure to feed, eject, or extract, I want to be able to get the gun back in to action as fast as possible. With out having to remove my firing hand from the pistol grip. That is why I have used the BCM charging handle since it came out. I have had the stock ones sheer off and break while in a fire fight before. I want the stuff I use to protect myself and my family to work and be dependable.
