Sharpen a knife scary sharp in under 2 minutes

I like that you made it yourself. I have the same buffer from Harbor Freight, though I purchased a paper wheel sharpening kit. My polishing paper wheel is not perfectly round, and chatters like crazy.

How did you cut the wheel perfectly round?

I cut it out with a jig saw then mounted it on the grinder. I used the edge of an old file to quickly remove material then used a sanding block as it spins. I started with 50 grit and finished with 120 grit.

I saw this on You Tube and decided to try it out.
The first wheel is a piece of mdf with white polishing compound applied to it
This is the wheel used to sharpen the blade.

The second is 5 pieces of leather glued together to hone the blade.

Turn the grinder around so the wheels spin away from you.

Since the grinding surface is mdf and polishing compound, you don't have to worry about grinding too much off.

I have the same set up. My only gripe is that I bought a regular size bench grinder and on larger blades, I have to watch it or I could hit the other wheel. Also, I used 3/4 in plywood with the powder silicone carbide and polishing compound instead of mdf. I love the way it sharpens! I have a worksharp system, but tend to go to the bench grinder set up more often.
