I probably couldn't do it but I've seen accurate fire at 200 yards with Irons. Forums seem to say this is the lower end for skilled shooters.

US Army shoots 250, 300 meter targets during weapons qualification. Marines shoot farther

Old school military always qualified with Iron sights.
300m no sweat.

I imagine that with a little practice one could get pretty good at adjusting windage for year make and model.

600 yards with irons is no real challenge slung prone.
