Wanted to know what everyone thinks of the two biggest contenders in the pump-action shotgun world.

Remington 870
vs.
Mossberg 500/835/535

I swore I'd never own Remington anything until my Mossberg died. (Mind you it was brand spanking new). That was my 3rd Mossberg, 2nd to give me trouble and I was done with them after that. A friend let me borrow his 30+ year old 870 to hunt with the next morning and I've been in love with 870's since. What say everyone else?

I spelled allegiance incorrectly, sorry. :(

I say the rotating bolt "speed pump action" on a winchester 1200 and 1300 are superior to both!

Here's eight shots in about three seconds:

Oh and I'm really not biased on my opinion as I've owned them all. Remington makes a fine shotgun and I'm really digging my 930SPX. :thumb:

I agree, but I put the two most popular selling pumps in the nation in the poll. Winchester/FN doesn't even call their pump the 1300 anymore...now it's the SXP and apparently they think we all love plastic furniture on our shotguns as they don't offer it in walnut :(. I loved my 1300 dearly but sold it when I needed car repairs.

For combat/defensive purposes I have always been partial to the 870, just feels better in hand to me. Even more so after running a friend of mine's 870 that was built by Scattergun Tech. Not to say the 590 isn't good, but I prefer the controls of the 870 as well, not a fan of the safety location of the 590, even less so when dealing with people who want to run pistol grip stocks.
