Should "Noobs" be restricted??

Overall I would say noobs should not be restricted, but I also could say that you should make valid contributions on the site as well.... Maybe require an introduce yourself thread and minimum ten posts at most, they must be valid posts also....

On a lot of sites, I would agree with this but in our case the ODT is a trader post first and a forum second. I know there are a lot of one timers that show up but if they add a valid gun to the mix... cool. (I'm not talking about an 800 dollar Glock, of course )

In one way I say yes resrtict then other I say no. The reason I say this is I strarted here in 2010 I have about 50 post. I'm on here 7 days a week. I just don't post a bunch. I got folks on here that I hunt with that know what kind of person I am. I have good feedback from here and GON not many but all good. I look just don't buy/trade alot. I have made two good frinends from GON one is on here now. The other we talked for 3 yrs before we meet in person he lives in Tampa so that had alot to due with it. So will it help somethings going on here I say yes but it may hurt me if I try to buy or sell yes. So I'm on the fence on this.

I know of a couple friends that signed up simply to sell a single gun. Believe it or not, there are honest folks that just want a venue to get rid of some excess. It might be hard to understand, but there are those that don't care about caliber war discussions, or AK vs AR talk. Personally I think the discussion forums are brilliant!

We are starting to see a lot of new member activity. This in itself is awesome but.....we also have a lot of 1 hit wonders lately coming in buying something then jumping out, or their first post is an open forum "low ball" offer, or something for sale. I believe that the "True" ODT is more than just a buy/sell/trade location, but is a family community within itself. Yes, we have members that come and go but the core group is a family oriented group who talk to each other, help each other out, and take care of each other when they can. I think it's time....(in my opinion) that we evolve to the next level where if you want to become a member of this family, then you need to earn your entry in. I think that any new member should be restricted from the "Classified" section until they have XXX amount of posts. And the Mod's. need to monitor the content to make sure its not all crap to hit the magic number. I think the title "New to the Trader" should remain with the member until the post count reaches the level that gives them full access. If you are serious about what you say in your opening post, then you have to earn it. Many "noobs" on here don't even take the time to introduce themselves. They just log in. This is also very very prevalent during Okuma Steve's annual ODT Give away Gala!! How many of those "noobs" who logged in remained after the give away or even after that 1 day. This prompted me due to a thread I saw this morning of something for sale and a Noob" registered in and his 1st post was not "Hi...this is -----from-----and thanks for having me", It was an open low ball offer for the item for sale. In my opinion, someone like that does not even have any business having access to the post. Well, thought I would post this for everyone's opinions including OS's.

Another view - who is protecting the unsuspecting newbie from seasoned lowballing veterans?

On my first listing I was hit with a variety of bad offers and lowballs, including one guy (still here btw) who claimed that he really needed a handgun but didn't have any money. He used to own a transmission shop and wanted to trade tools and such. His long list of prior expensive listings begged to differ.
