Wow!!!! Really great responses!!.......thank you all. This is what its all about for me....being able to share differences of opinions and many times learning something new about yourself or someone else. My original thought was getting a feel for restricting new members from the Classified's until maybe post No.25. But many of you have made some very good arguments to the contrary!..Thanks for all of your feedback and thoughts. Hopefully more will still "chime" in. With that said.........Carry On!

Yeah, they're buying all the good guns and taking all the good deals. And really, Mods have nothing better to do than monitor the first 50 posts of every new member for Quality (what ever that is).

And hey, someone offering less money than you think your one of a kind (It's the only one with that serial number) bang stick is *insulting*!

You want $1,000 for your thing, someone offers you $100 (which may actually be what it's worth) but you want $1,000 or thereabouts. So you can:

Ignore him.

Counter offer $999

Ignore him.

Research and construct a response with citations, and web links to articles and auction web sites showing that your asking price is only a little bit high, and add three pages of justifications for your asking price.

Ignore him.

Come into the forum and have hysterics about "lowballers" and how much they hurt your feelings insulting your thing, you and your dog.

Ignore him.

Believe it or not there is no law requiring you to respond to someone who is offering you pennies on the dollar.

I didn't read all 10 pages, and I don't know if this has been said but...everyone is a noob once.

Just because you're new doesn't mean you won't eventually be a well respected trader on this site sometime in the future.

And...some of the best deals I have done have been trades with folks with less than 50 posts. I have seen some users with more trades than posts! Not everyone comes to this site to spout unbelievable BS at every chance (like myself). Some people actually come here to trade!

Everyone comes in the door with "NOOB" status. New people bring new opportunities. Sometimes people show up to sell something without out saying the first hello because they need money to pay bills. I sometimes get low ball offers from people with several post as well as minimal post. They might either be cheap or may not have much money. I don't let it bother me. I just say no and move on. I am greatful to have the opportunities to buy and sell on ODT. I have met many nice people here. Putting a post restriction may turn away good potential members. ODT has a good feedback system. If someone is a problem, we all know.

No, of course not.

I was just told about this site from my uncle. A few days later, I created an account. So, I wake up the next morning, check the classifieds and see the exact handgun I've been looking has been posted just the night before. My first post, less than 24 hours of signing up, is commenting for this gun... I PMed the seller, and after a few back and forths with questions and answers, I met with the man later that evening and purchased the firearm... The seller was a fantastic guy and the exchange couldn't have gone better.

For the people who could potentially relate to this experience, I don't agree with the idea of restricting anyone.

Also, just because I don't post very often (heck, this is my second post), doesn't mean I've left the site. I've been coming back, reading these forums and checking the classifieds everyday since joining... And I don't see that changing because this place is awesome, I'm just a really quiet and reserved person.
