Skeet Shooting Questions

I usually use whatever I can get cheap with 7 1/2 to 8 shot, basically dove/quail loads. I use a lot of the federal 100 round bulk packs you can get at walmart.

Those aren't bad, but you can sometimes beat the WallyWorld pricing when Dick's or Academy runs Remington Gun Clubs, Winchester Super Targets, Federal Top Guns or the RIO equivalent "On Sale"....mikey357

A good inertia gun is well worth the money as it can go longer between cleanings and helps reduce recoil. I would stick with 12 gauge as it offers a lot of options and will serve you better in the long run.

While I agree that SOME Inertia Guns may "Run" longer between cleaning than SOME Gas Guns, the Gas Guns are the ones that have the better RECOIL REDUCTION....mikey357

Good (and varied) advice here.
But here's something to consider:
Once you start shooting a lot, you'll probably get interested in reloading. You'll go through a tremendous amount of shells while shooting skeet and sporting clays!

I have introduced several of my golfing friends to shooting over the years.
I prefer a 20 0/U or .410 when shooting skeet and sporting clays. However when you get a chance go down to Tom Lowe Skeet/Trap range of Camp Creek Parkway. Its been a couple of years since I went down there but they used to offer gun rentals for Beretta O/U 12GA and 20GA. The pullers are very knowledgeable and several offer private shooting lessons. Take a look on Groupon as well since they occasionally have packages available. http://www.atlantaskeetshooting.com/
I would recommend Skeet Chokes at first and move to modified once you hit the clays consistently.
My guns of choice shooting clays are the following O/U: 20GA SKB, .410 Franchi Aspire, 12GA Ruger Red Label.

Reloading is key with .410 and you can pick up a 100 rounds at Walmart for $26 for 12/20.

I went skeet shooting a few weeks ago in Rome with a member there, it was loads of fun! You will go thru some ammo, and found some rio @ academy for $5.49 a box. I have a 12 gauge auto I-12 franchi I though worked well, I just couldn't hit crap. I would go again, sporting clays was more fun!!!!!!!!!
