Skeet Shooting Questions

Whatever you do, don't do what I do.. I suck at Skeet  Its a lot of fun, I just cant hit squat with a shotgun for some reason.. I swear I could pluck one of those little ****ers out of the sky with a rifle if I tried though

Skeet choke means there is no choke. You are close enough that you don't want to compress your pattern.
Sorry if this is a duplicate.

You might be trying to "Aim" the Shotgun PRECISELY, rather than just "Pointing" it--You must also continue your "Swing" after pulling the Trigger--Called "Follow-Thru"--Or you will likely shoot BEHIND a lot of Targets...HTH....mikey357

I have introduced several of my golfing friends to shooting over the years.
I prefer a 20 0/U or .410 when shooting skeet and sporting clays. However when you get a chance go down to Tom Lowe Skeet/Trap range of Camp Creek Parkway. Its been a couple of years since I went down there but they used to offer gun rentals for Beretta O/U 12GA and 20GA. The pullers are very knowledgeable and several offer private shooting lessons. Take a look on Groupon as well since they occasionally have packages available. http://www.atlantaskeetshooting.com/
I would recommend Skeet Chokes at first and move to modified once you hit the clays consistently.
My guns of choice shooting clays are the following O/U: 20GA SKB, .410 Franchi Aspire, 12GA Ruger Red Label.

Reloading is key with .410 and you can pick up a 100 rounds at Walmart for $26 for 12/20.

The .410 is a HOOT to shoot with, and it is very CHALLENGING, but it is generally considered an "Expert's Gun", as the Pattern it throws is so small it is difficult to "Hit" with--Definitely not recommended for Beginners....mikey357

Actually, a CORRECT Skeet Choke has MORE Constriction than Cylinder Bore, but LESS THAN Improved Cylinder...

All very good and true, the only thing I can add is keep your head down and cheek to the stock while swinging.

I kept getting told by the guy running the shoot I was leading to far and always either in frot of or above the clay when I missed. I think your right and I was trying to hard to aim though. And I was shooting at the time with a turkey barrel that I found out later had a very slight bend in it that was also likely messing me up

Yep, the savvy Clay Target Shooters call that--Keeping your head DOWN & Following Thru--"Staying In The Gun"--I have broken MANY a Clay that I probably should have missed, only because I "Stayed In The Gun"!

Pontenza.
Floyd County Wildlife Club?
They have a great private sporting clay course.

My duck/ turkey gun is a Franchi I-6. Great firearm.

I went skeet shooting a few weeks ago in Rome with a member there, it was loads of fun! You will go thru some ammo, and found some rio @ academy for $5.49 a box. I have a 12 gauge auto I-12 franchi I though worked well, I just couldn't hit crap. I would go again, sporting clays was more fun!!!!!!!!!
