SKS bayonet no fit

I got an SKS and the bayonet will not slide over the end of the barrel and gets stuck on the barrel if I try. How can I fix this?

Depending on the closeness of the fit...a little emory cloth rolled up to fit the bayonet ring might clearance it. Work with the emery cloth only on the ring - I wouldn't do anything to the barrel unless I had to...

Is it possible someone painted the bayonet ring making it tighter?

That may be the case, doe not look painted. I am not going to mess with the barrel. Thinking of just taking the bayonet off cause I really don't see me getting into a rifle fight anytime soon.

My Norinco has a black ring on the otherwise silver bayonet.

And there's always the option of taking it off...
