Maybe its just my local area or maybe its me ...

Seen several alive around my old store in Newnan.

I’ve also passed roadkill skunks that you can smell for at least 1/4 mile with the windows up... hahaha

About 20 yards. It was preoccupied trying to get out of the trap and I don't think it even noticed me.

Lucky that you didn't get tagged by that SOB. I probably would've taken it to the local chinese restaurant up the street and tried selling it to them. These people will use anything.

Dad hit a skunk one night back in the early 60's , mom said "poor thing" dad said you'll think poor thing in a minute. Only time I ever heard mom ask him to light a cigar.

Caught one in a leg hold trap. Was sure that was going to turn into a nightmare. Shot it in the neck with a .357 carbine, it didn't spray. I don't know how you can live in GA and not see skunks, at least dead in the road.

As you know, there's not a lot much funny about the pole cat.
I can't tell you HOW MANY TIMES I was walking in woods or out to a stand (Usually in dark). Accidentally walked up on one. It scared the bee-jezuz out of both of us. Then we both stood there motionless, staring at each for 5-10 min, in some sort of redneck Mexican standoff.

For the uninformed, here is your "Executive Summary" regarding the Southern skunk:
1. The pole cat is not your friend.
2. Give him a wide berth.
3. Do not be tempted to play games with him; you will lose.
