I hope this is the right forum for this post, if not i apologize and please point me in the right direction. I have an EAA Girsan Regard. I love it, the action is like butter. That said, I HATE the sights. The issue is the front sight is part of the slide. Can this be milled out and a dovetail milled in so I can change the front sight out? Any reco's for someone to do this work? Thanks in advance.

The limiting factor is the thickness of the front ring that the front sight would be dovetailed into.

Most Novak-spec front sights have a dovetail that is 0.070" to 0.075" deep. I am not sure about Girsans, but old Beretta 92s are approximately only 0.069 - 0.070 thick in that area.

So, my vote is "NO".

Good point. The girsan is probably based on the older Berettas.

I didn't get a chance to measure it, but I got to play with a current-production M9 last night. The front ring on the new Berettas is visibly thicker, lending itself to the dovetailed front sights that are currently installed by the factory.

Thank you, I need a cliper to measure mine. I will grab one tomorrow. I wonder if they could make it so a glock style front sight would work?

Even if it was thick enough, you'd have to have some way to cut a flat on the inside of the ring for the screw's hex head to settle into. It wouldn't play nice on the rounded original interior.
