Small gouge repair in stock

I have a gun that has a gouged-not dented stock Gouge is small-about 1/4" square by 1/16 deep. I'm thinking some kind of epoxy/sawdust repair but wonder if there is a better way. tia

Look up baking soda and superglue.

I have a shotgun that had a horrible gouge from barbed wire. This totally repaired it and you can't even find it now.

Thanks for the reply but steam will not raise a gouge-only dents.
