Smith revolver guys I need your help

[Control for Smilers]

I’ve seen a few in person, and several more in pics. They were an attractive matte black that I’ve always liked.

so now the question is what dash. if it isnt drilled and tapped, could be -1 to -3.

S&W made 2500 4” and 2500 6” 586-3’s in the matte black finish. The metal was glass-bead blasted and then blued.

Based on the Rear Sight, Cylinder Lug & Cylinder Release it's a 586-3 or earlier--That Blue Plastic Box is NOT correct for those Dash Numbers--Looks like it's maybe Electroless Nickel or Matte Hard Chrome, either of which would be an aftermarket finish--Nice-lookin' gun, might be a GREAT "Shooter", but probably no Collector Value/Interest...

is it 7 shot or 6? does it have an N stamp on the cylinder? weird it has a black ramp front sight. I am researching.

its a 6 shot and there are NO markings on the cylinder

Could you message Smith and ask what model the gun is by the serial number ?

What finish is that? The 586 was blued or nickeled, and the 686 was stainless steel. That guns looks stainless, or maybe hard chromed. Never seen a factory hard-chromed 586.

I was just thinking the same thing. Something very odd about this revolver.

Looks more like SS colored cerakote to me.

It has the V on rear of the cylinder.

I think you're looking at Control for Smilers pic. I can't see a V on any of OPs pics... but, I tend to miss things
