Smith & Wesson Recolver help

[The Southern Gentlemen]

I recently purchased an old Smith 38 revolver and would like to be able to identify the year(s) it was manufactured and the model of it. I hope there is someone in the ODT universe that can help me with this. Want to kinda get a value on it so I know what it is I have.

Looks like an old Victory model

Got a "V" serial number on it's butt ?? Next to the lanyard ring...
Barrel marked 38 SPL or S&W 38 ??

It has the V, barrel says 38 S & W special ctg. Also has a US property GHD above the cylinder

My Jinks lettered Victory with Serial Number V4566xx was mfg'd in 1943...Non-govt model sold to a shipyard in Oregon and shoots 38spl per barrel stamping.

This one has the V 374xxx serial #. How do I find out that detailed information you have sir? Also what to shoot out of it?

You can order a letter from S&W ON it. There is a charge, you can call them for the particulars.

The sights are regulated for standard 38 sp loads with 158 gr bullets.

Nice old Smith
