6 feet is fine. I killed a copperhead at about 10 feet with a .38 Air weight snubby a few years back. I might get a box of these as an option. But like I said -- I never see a copperhead or moccasin snake at all when I'm prepared, so they're pretty safe around me. ;-)![]()
ive had really good luck with these in my carry 9mm's for taking snakes out. You gotta be within 6 ft or so tho but it will take the head clean off
Buy something inexpensive like a Taurus 22 revolver. That snake shot doesn't do too well in semi-automatics. Those NAA guns are just too small to do anything with. A Heritage Rough Rider is another excellent low cost choice and you can use 22 Magnums in it with the extra cylinder. Those things last forever. This has been covered in various ways. Specifically, I carry a 9mm but wonder whether it'd be useful to have something like an NAA .22 mag with snake shot when working in the yard. We have copperheads and moccasins on occasion in the back of the yard, where we back up to a creek.
I have a .22 Beretta Bobcat, but it's either that or the 9mm not both. I have a .32 Tomcat but I can't find snake shot in .32. I have a couple of .32 revolvers, same thing. None in .380 either. I know there are plenty of options, but my habit is just to grab the extra, not make a complete change depending on what I'm doing.
So for those who know . . . might an NAA .22 mag with snake shot be effective at all, or would I be better off just throwing a brick at the snake?
