So...how much AMMO is TOO much ammo???

THIS! thank you for actually answering my discussion properly. Though I know numbers differ, but I do like the acknowledgement of training and to plan ahead to have enough to do so.
I totally get the "in a perfect world" bit...as for that much ammo, I'd have to bury shipping containers to store that much! Lol

That much ammo will fit on one shelf depending on how many mbrs you have.

For overall totals I won’t comment - But as for cachet quantities I use the following

.308 1 battlepak 240-300 rds
.223 300-400 rds
9mm 300 rds
45acp 300 rds

This gives me 540-700 total rounds depending on which rifle/pistol combo I’m carrying at the time

I figure at any given time this will suffice in a SHTF firefight and either I slip away and resupply or police up the area for a plus on ammunition and weapons afterwards OR I didn’t do it right and more ammunition won’t matter to me anyway

Alright fellow ODT junkies. I have a semi serious question.
I know there's a world of opinions out there, just like butt holes, everyone's got one.

How much ammo would you say would be "necessary" for SHTF scenario (doesn't matter which version of SHTF)
I know some may yell "YouR GonnA NeEd 5 billioN MILLION" crap...as stated, semi serious.

Also this is "Stored AMMO" for rainy day, not including fun plinking or deer camp days. This is the untouched virgins kept locked away from anyone's chambers until the perfect time.

I was thinking something like
Bolt guns-300 ea
Semi rifles-1200 ea
Full size pistols-300 ea
Carry pistols-200 ea
Shotguns-500 ea

I'd like to see what some of you have come up with, and reasons why. :)

There’s not really a one size fits all amount. Ammo is expensive even before the panic. Younger guys have other priorities as they’re just starting out in life. Older guys have had the time and money to accumulate Ammo over the years. Some people shoot every week or more, some just like to be cool by having firearms and rarely shoot. Keep what you can afford and feel comfortable with, never over pay if possible and keep in mind things will calm down at some point.
