I also keep guns and ammo in different places.
I don't keep all my eggs in one basket.

Wouldn't that actually mean you don't keep
all your chickens & eggs in the same basket?

When SHTF I figure no use to head for the hills.
Those that try that most likely be stranded at the gas station.
Unless they head out on foot or by bicycle. Which will limit
transportable qty of ammo & water. Those with large cache of
ammo must have already decided to make a stand where they are.
In which case they have other closets full of water, TP, and coffee
which they will not advertise to prevent being overrun by relatives,
friends, and neighbors. Just a hunch, I could be wrong. Again.

I think I am in the 9k-10k rounds of ammo range... Heck, I have like 800 rounds just of buckshot and slugs for 12ga... 1500 rounds of 9mm, 1200 rounds of .223 plus .22LR, 38/357, 44, 30-30, .308, 7.62, 45acp, .380...

I feel like that's plenty for a rainy day... I mean, if there ever was SHTF, it's not like you are gonna be out burning it up on target practice and plinking...

SHTF you can only carry so much...

I traded my 2 12 gauge shot shells for 410's. Got a new pair of socks and needed the room. Hope they will work in my shotgun.
