I have read all of the posts thus far and I think a point has been lost. What Mr. Obama did yesterday was an Executive Action, not an Executive Order. To clarify the difference I had to look it up:
Executive Actions Versus Executive Orders
Executive actions are any informal proposals or moves by the president. The term executive action itself is vague and can be used to describe almost anything the president calls on Congress or his administration to do.
But most executive actions carry no legal weight. Those that do actually set policy can be invalidated by the courts or undone by legislation passed by Congress.
The terms executive action and executive order are not interchangeable. Executive orders are legally binding and published in the Federal Register, though they also can be reversed by the courts and Congress.
A good way to think of executive actions is a wish list of policies the president would like to see enacted.
Trust me when I say this. It is still a slippery slope that this administration is going to try to enact against the 2A and this country. There are still provisions that the ATF and HIPPA will change due to this EA. I served my country for 24 years. It pains me to say this, but I think this "President" has ruined our country. I think this country needs a wake up call.

Correct and he's had a Team of Lawyers looking at what he can do, by EA just tweaking Laws on the Books. It would take an EO to officially set a New Policy.

Yes that is correct, which is why I said the FFL stuff was overblown (at least I think it was this thread
), but there are still some troubling problems with the mental health stuff, 41p, hiring 200 ATF agents, etc. And either way he does not have the scope of authority to do any of it, which is why Congress and or the courts can stop it. The question is - will they???
