So the AK-47 is pre-historic and outdated for battle?

Hell, we can do 200 and 300 standing. That's cool.
You hit te backboard with an ok target on it with about a whole mag and told us a story about how people didn't believe you could hit the backboard with some calibers but you lobbed a few out there and proved em wrong.
I'm still waiting on him to accept my challenge of plinking 14" steel at 100 yards with the Glock 19. It's a ton of fun.
They actually used both....
See, lately I find myself asking two things when considering new guns. Can I suppress it? Can I SBR it? In truth this is what killed the AK for me. Still great guns, just not really interested in them at the moment.

Are you talking free handed? 300 yards with 556 can be done free handed but it isn't boringly easy. At least not for me it isn't. Either way my point was to say that if I'm shooting longer than mid range I would rather use a larger caliber than 556.
Which brings me to the next question regarding this thread...Are we comparing these rifles for the range or for combat? Since we are to the point of shoveling dirt over them I'm assuming we are talking combat scenarios.
Notice they put a bipod and big optic on the AR because they need to keep the front line reliable. Being 300 yards away gives the AR operator time to get his flathead screwdriver out and fix the jam while the AK's keep the enemy dropping.
Had one, hated it. Couldn't SBR it the way I wanted to because the serial number was in the wrong place. Got rid of it and picked up a C39 milled AK pistol, was going to SBR it but the fact that AKs don't suppress for **** led me to dump it and start a 300 BLK SBR instead.
