So the AK-47 is pre-historic and outdated for battle?

Just a quick note for Jeddak: Hornady is making a nice 5.45 load with the SST bullet. It's not completely domestic, as the cases are imported. But that said, I'm sure Hornady would tool up for production if 5.45 surplus and commercial for some reason dried up. When there's money to be made, someone will decide to make it.
At the time when I made my choice, (8-10 years ago) I could not find domestically produced 5.45x39 or components. Winchester and others make 7.62x39 brass, so I can reload for Vepr.

Understandable. Just wanted others to know that homegrown 5.45 was out there as well.

BTW, I own all 3 platforms being discussed here. I don't know that I could ever choose one over the other and ditch the rest.
