So the AK-47 is pre-historic and outdated for battle?

Because an AK is like a chainsaw and I am more into precision shooting. Cost of ammo is nice, but if I can't shoot the gun 300 yards, I'm not really interested in it.

Perhaps they are similar to a chainsaw in full auto. I would not know. I have owned several in semi and loved the way they shot. To each his own though...

I certainly agree that an AK would not be on my list of choices for 300+ yards, but neither would an AR. Lots of better choices for that scenario. I consider AK's and AR's to be short to mid range so that is where I categorize these types of rifles. Although they can shoot farther, and an AR considerably farther, I would rather have something else entirely if I'm reaching past mid range. But hey, that's just me.

Honestly, anything flatter shooting than 556 is boring at 300yards.

With a good optic, you could always kill rabbits at 300 with a 5.56 AR.
Yup. even 200 with irons on a rifle length are fairly simple point and shoot guns.

I love my 308's but it's hard to find a range to really have a good time with them since they are essentially point and shoot at 300.

I'll have to see how my 8" 7.62x39 upper does at different ranges.

Shooting 300 yards with iron sights is 99% unnecessary and based on NWSharpshooter's previous comments about his eyes, I doubt he could even hit "minute of torso" at 200. Hell, most people couldn't tell if it was Grandma ar Taliban at 300 yards.
Tell you what. 300 yards with irons at a standard silhouette. 30 round mag. You pay me 25 bucks for every hit, I pay you for every miss. I got glasses homeboy and shoot almost exclusively at 300 now. My only AR with optics is my 300 BLK.

Mehh, 300 yards is useless to me because I don't need 20 chances to hit a target while it is rapidly approaching. I will definitely do the 200 yard shots, standing.

Are they tactical glasses?

I shoot because I enjoy shooting. I'm not planning for war. 200 yards is pretty boring with irons. Nope, not tactical glasses. Regular Ol glasses to correct an astigmatism.
