seems like people are obsessed with pre lock smiths. I have never owned one. All of mine had the locks, and I never worried about it. Tossed the key in the box, and didn’t use it. Same way I don’t use a safety on a carry pistol.

I researched a bit and some of it seems to be an unfounded concern of the lock engaging under recoil, despite there not being an actual verified case of that ever happening over a decade and a half.

So what gives?

Cost? Reliability? Any actual numbers to back that up? Or is that just rationalization for people rejecting what they consider the nanny state?

My suspicions that this was an ideological issue seems to be getting confirmed...

I prefer revolvers without the safety lock, but would not hesitate to buy one with if it was a good deal. To me, it’s just one more thing that can go wrong with the gun. I’m also not the guy who adds a lot of accessories to my guns...just more things to go wrong when Murphy shows up. Simpler the better.... that’s why I prefer Glocks, 1911’s and revolvers without safety locks.
