Your rifle was made before 1995, the year Savage changed ownership and standardized the 1-in-9 twist rate. The only way to tell for sure what you have will be to run a tight patch down the barrel and measure how much cleaning rod you feed in before the rod makes a complete revolution. Should only take a few minutes. I would slowly pull the patch through the breech end until it firmly engages the rifling, stop and wrap a piece of tape around the rod where it exits the muzzle and draw a line at the 12-o-clock position, then continue pulling until the line you drew on the tape completes one revolution, and then measure how much of the rod you pulled out...
 
Hey Mutchlerchad, regarding the 69-gr Black Hills ammo your friend recommended, please ask him if they were Sierra Match King Hollow Points. Also, did he use new or remanufactured ammo? The reman is about $15 cheaper per 50rd box... And lastly, does he have a few left that he can include in the deal?
