Please enlighten me on how that will hurt them.
Testosterone levels decreasing causes the antlers to shed, so Setting an antler trap up to coincide with that is literally impossible. If bucks are not ready to shed and the get their antler caught in the wire, thus causing it to come off early, it may damage the pedicle and cause issues for future antler growth or it can cause a brain abscess and kill the deer. If you find a shed with a shard of bone still attached to the bottom, that is the antler pedicle still attached and is a definitive sign of a pedicle injury.
These are all examples of pedicle injuries except for the one labeled "a"
